24 Years Ago Today
A 2-1 win at Birmingham City, totally nicked it with our two goals coming in the 87th and 89th minutes.

Can remember having a slash after the game, came out of the toilets and heard lots of shouting and some of our fans being chased back into the away end.

Got back to the car and the news was all about the Grand National being voided.

I was at both games. Don't remember them in the same week though, but what do I know?

That was my favourite season as a supporter, following us all round the country. Happy times.

Bishop and Kenny Browne IIRC ?

Re: 24 Years Ago Today
I was at this. fresh faced 16 year old. travelled up on the coach on my own.

fucking awful game, thought we'd blown promotion. then for some inexplicable reason Colin foster went up front, confused everyone and then set up a wonderful finish. one of my favourite memories at football. still remember seeing some guy hanging upside down from the rafters celebrating Bish's winner.

then he tried it again against southend 4 days later and we lost.

marred slightly be getting rushed by a lot of angry brummies and them trashing a few of our coaches

Didn't we 'rob' Birmingham in a Cup game as well with a couple of late goals? One by Joe Cole maybe
And also that game where Zamora borrowed Messi's body for 30 secs

It was indeed Bish and Kenny Brown. Can't recall many games like that where it felt like we had just robbed someone.

Re: 24 Years Ago Today
Brett Angel, that's a blast form the past of a decent lower league goalscorer who would have been gash in the top flight.

I mean he was no Guy Whttingham, but done a job.

I had my wisdom teeth out on that day! Bishop got the winner but it wasn't Foster who got the other. Kenny Brown maybe?

I thought Kenny Brown got the other?

It was Brett ANGEL... Collymore tore us a new one mind you... and Barry Fry run up and down the touchline like Linford Christie... Foster and Speedie up front wasn't it??

Grumpster 12:14 Mon Apr 3
Re: 24 Years Ago Today
Unfortunately because Colin Foster scored, the gaffer thought it a great idea to play him up front again in the midweek game at Southend and we lost to a Stan Collymore goal and were atrocious!

My memory could well be incorrect though.

Coach behind ours at Brum had it's windows smashed in.

Good times.
